Child and Family Science

Internship

The primary purpose of the internship is to offer CFS students applied experience working directly or indirectly with children and/or family, or with issues that impact children and/or families.

Requirements:

  1. Must be a senior who is within one semester of graduation.
  2. If you are a Family Science major, you are required to take the internship as your capstone class.
  3. If you are a Child Development major but think you may not want to work in a group setting with children, then you might consider an internship for more options.
  4. CFS 193I internship involve 120 hours of work with an eligible placement during the semester.
  5. Internship also involves CFS 193I two-hour class meetings once per week, and assignments integrating coursework with internship experiences.
  6. All paperwork, including a Learning Plan Agreement and Emergency Contact Form, must be completed.

 

How to register for the internship?

  1. Students must FIRST find and secure an internship site before receiving a permission number for the class. Existing internship sites are listed below.
  2. Students wanting to do an internship outside the approved list, will  first need to complete the CFS 193I Site Proposal Form.
