American Indian Studies

Mission

In American Indian Studies, we value our relationships with Tribal communities and are committed to growing awareness of American Indian experiences and the forces that shape American Indian health, wellness, politics, cultural practices, and sovereignty. With over 500 federally recognized Tribes and numerous unrecognized but still active Tribes, American Indian Studies strengthens our broader understanding of the U.S. democracy, race, gender and economy, land and water conservation, and the importance of preserving and learning from diverse cultural-intellectual systems.
