Anthropology

Anthropology includes the study of the social, cultural, and biological aspects of humanlife.Anthropology students study how people and cultures evolved and vary, and what these differences and similarities mean in the modern world. Fresno State's undergraduate Anthropology program is designed to provide students with (1) the ability to effectively interact in a globalized world marked by great cultural contact and diversity; (2) the intellectual skills that are essential to the widest range of professional careers; and (3) thorough preparation for graduate work for those who wish to pursue an advanced degree in anthropology.

Our graduates enter fields as diverse as non-profit administration, public service, and private enterprise. Those who choose to continue on to graduate school have entered professional programs in international business, law, medicine, public administration, and public health, as well as top academic anthropology programs. Of those who have sought advanced education, 98 percent have been accepted into graduate school. In addition, our field archaeology program trains students for careers in Cultural Resource Management.
