Mohan Bahadur Dangi is an American environmental engineer, science diplomat, and a
professor in the Department of Geography and City & Regional Planning at California
State University (CSU), Fresno, specializing in technical and social aspects of solid
waste engineering and management. He is recognized internationally for his contributions
to Environmental Science and Engineering curriculum development and capacity-building
through the mitigation of environmental disturbances in Nepal.
His work has produced ten memoranda of understanding between the U.S. and international universities, developed two engineering curricula, drafted a K-12 Renewable Energy Curriculum in Nepal, and actively promoted environmental science and engineering education in India and Nepal. He has created and reinvented a dozen courses for CSU, Fresno, the University of Wyoming, Tribhuvan University, and the United States Agency for International Development, including two life-changing study abroad programs to the third pole, Cultural Landscape and Environmental Change in the Himalayas, and Environmental Quality in the Himalayas. His peer-reviewed publications have proven important contributions to the discipline of waste management and environmental public policy.

Professor Dangi, the recipient of the 2025 Steven K. Dentel AEESP [Association of
Environmental Engineering and Sciences Professors] Award for Global Outreach, a 2022
Embassy Science Fellowship awardee from the U.S. Department of State (DOS), and a
2021-2022 Jefferson Science Fellowship winner from the National Academies of Sciences,
Engineering, and Medicine, has received numerous accolades and recognitions for his
work. For example, he received the 2022 Global Achievement Award from his alma mater,
Johns Hopkins University. He was a 2021-2022 Fulbright U.S. Senior Scholar to Nepal,
awarded by the DOS. Additionally, he received the 2017-2018 Fulbright Specialist Award
from the DOS. He serves as an Adjunct Professor at the Indian Institute of Technology
Jodhpur and as a Visiting Professor at Nepal Open University. He is a Board-Certified
Environmental Engineer (BCEE) of the American Academy of Environmental Engineers &
Scientists, a Board Certified, Water Resources Engineer (BC.WRE) of the American Academy
of Water Resources Engineers, and a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Colorado.
He is an Associate Editor of the Waste Management & Research journal. He is a member
of AEESP and the American Society of Civil Engineers.
