Bethany Berube serves as the Deputy General Services Director for the City of Clovis,
where she
oversees Clovis Transit, Recreation, and the Senior Center. She leads programs that
directly
impact the community, with a focus on accountability, service delivery, and support
for diverse
populations.
After graduating from Fresno State with a degree in Criminology, Bethany worked as
a social
worker for Fresno County in child welfare, providing direct support to children and
families. She
later served as the Public Guardian for Tulare County, overseeing Adult Protective
Services and
Senior Legal Services.
Bethany holds a Juris Doctor from San Joaquin College of Law and has applied her legal
training
in both public service and independent contractor roles. Her experience includes work
on
complex criminal cases, including a capital homicide case, as well as municipal work
in code
enforcement, contracts, and real property matters.
She began her career in emergency medical services as an EMT while attending Fresno
State, an
experience that shaped her commitment to public service.
Bethany began teaching at Fresno State from 2006 to 2010 and returned in 2020. She
has also
coached Mock Trial, supporting students in developing courtroom communication and
advocacy
skills in preparation for careers in law and the broader criminal justice field.
Bethany served as the Western Regional Representative for the National Adult Protective
Services Association (NAPSA) and as Chair of the Protective Services Operations Committee
(PSOC), contributing to statewide and regional efforts focused on protective services
and elder abuse response. She currently serves on the CALACT Board representing small
urban transit
operators.
Bethany brings real-world experience into the classroom, focusing on practical application,
critical thinking, and preparing students for careers in criminal justice and victim
services. She is
passionate about helping students understand how the work looks in real life, build
confidence in
their skills, and find their place in the field.
Bethany genuinely loves teaching and creates an engaging, hands-on classroom where
students
are encouraged to participate, think critically, and challenge themselves. Students
know her as
“Prof B” and can expect a supportive environment that pushes them to grow while making
the
learning experience meaningful and enjoyable.
