Biographical Sketch for Dr. Jason Crow 

Dr. Jason Crow joined in 2024 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Criminology at California State University, Fresno, where he teaches courses central to the Forensic Behavioral Sciences major. Holding a PhD in Forensic Psychology from the California School of Forensic Studies at Alliant International University, Dr. Crow’s research and teaching are deeply rooted in his extensive background in human compulsion, particularly substance use dependence, sex crimes, and criminal paraphilia. An alumnus of Fresno State, he earned his MS in Criminology from the department he now proudly serves. Prior to his academic role, Dr. Crow served as Clinical Services Director at Aegis Treatment Center, California’s largest opioid use dependence treatment provider. In this role, he led initiatives to advance treatment methodologies, developed training programs to enhance treatment delivery, and engaged in proprietary collaborative research on medication-assisted treatment.

Dr. Crow’s research focuses on the etiology of human sexual variation, sex crimes, and paraphilia, with recent attention on genetic explanations. His interests are broad, and he plans to explore various domains that may provide further etiological insights. He is a member of the Society for Police and Criminal Psychology and has contributed to scholarly discussions through published works addressing these intricate issues.

Dedicated to fostering a dynamic learning environment, Dr. Crow’s teaching philosophy prioritizes not just the acquisition of knowledge but also the development of critical thinking skills. He aims to equip students to navigate and contribute to the evolving field of forensic behavioral science, emphasizing growth through challenge and a deep understanding of human behavior within the legal context.
