Peter English is a psychologist and Associate Professor in the Department of Criminology
at California State University, Fresno where he has taught courses such as Psychology
of Crime, Principles and Applications of Forensic Behavioral Sciences, Ethics in Forensic
Behavioral Sciences, Juvenile Delinquency, and Law and Criminal Justice. He graduated
from the University of Arizona with a degree in psychology. Professor English has
published and continues to conduct research on topics related to psychology, public
policy, and law. His most recent research interests concern the adjudication of mentally
ill offenders, comprehension of legal language, and the use of behavioral forensic
science in legal decision making. He is co-author of a book called More Than the Law: Behavioral and Social Facts in Legal Decision Making (2005) with Bruce D. Sales, PhD, JD, published by the American Psychological Association.
Professor English worked previously at NASA – Ames Research Center at Moffett Field
Naval Air Station in the Office of Space Human Factors and Perception and Cognition
Lab. He has published and presented nationally on topics related to attention, visual
search and information processing. Professor English has served as an editorial assistant
on the journal Psychology, Public Policy, and Law where he serves as an ad hoc reviewer. He is a member of the American Psychological Association, American Psychology-Law
Society, and the Association for Psychological Science.
