Monica Summers is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Criminology at California
State University, Fresno. She earned her PhD in Criminology & Criminal Justice from
Southern Illinois University—Carbondale. She also earned an M.A. in Criminology and
Criminal Justice from the University of Missouri—St. Louis and dual B.A.’s in Criminal
Justice and Legal Studies from the University of Illinois—Springfield. Her interests
primarily revolve around corrections, where her focus is on inmate experiences and
community reentry. Additional interests include gender, victimization, and violence.
